Episode 86: Sensing Pubic Bone - Live Yoga

Episode 86:

This is a 75 minute live class blending yoga and the Feldenkrais® method. We will use the pubic bone as an anatomical place of reference and awareness. Using a multidisciplinary approach, including breathing practices, myofascial release, and active and passive stretching, acquaint yourself with the subtle movements of the pelvis.

At the beginning of the class, we locate the pubic bone on our own bodies. Not sure where the pubic bone is? As we locate it, this image may be useful for you. Circled in red is the area that we will locate at the beginning of the class.

Highlighted in blue is the pubis. We have a right and a left pubis. Between the two is cartalidge that allows for movement. The areas you will feel with your fingers is the bony tips of the right and left pubis.

This class is taught by Sarah Baumert, Yoga and Feldenkrais practitioner. In many of her classes, she blends these two powerful movement modalities. These blended classes work with the body as a whole functioning system, not a collection of parts. While the access point of our learning often starts with an anatomical focus, such as the pubic bone, you will still experience a well rounded practice.
