The Body Matter Virtual Yoga and Feldenkrais Course Library
A place for anyone to experience a unique take on Yoga and the Feldenkrais® Method
I am excited to share with you the
Body Matter Virtual Library
a dream that has been coming to life for over a year and a half now.
With the last few years being the way that they were (no explantation needed) and our lives as we knew them continuing to transform, I wanted to create a platform for whomever to access Body Matter offerings in a way that gave them choice, options, and deeper connection to their bodies. From that came the Body Matter Virtual Wellness Library, a place for anyone to experience a unique take on Yoga and Feldenkrais®.
The Body Matter Virtual Wellness Library includes:
A mixture of Yoga and Feldenkrais® class content.
New courses added every week, that vary in length, style, and level of class to fit your specific and ever changing needs.
Access to 2-3 weekly livestream classes.
Curated playlists that allow you to follow a set series on your own time.
Option to add questions and comments for each class to engage with Sarah and other students.
A feature to easily search what class you would like to take.
You can access the Body Matter Library for $72/month
Pay as able and scholarships are always available for all Body Matter offerings. If interested, please reach out to me directly.
Yoga
People often ask me, “What kind of yoga is this? I’ve never experienced anything quite like it.”
It’s hard to explain in words what my teaching is like and how learning yoga can be quite different with different teachers. I aim to direct my students to be able to feel and sense more and more of themselves. I aspire to facilitate whole body alignment in my students, both physically and energetically. Physically, a class extends far beyond yoga poses, guiding students to deepen their own learning process through imaginative sensory rich movement experiments, helping students to feel from the inside out.
Each session is an interdisciplinary excursion of yoga, Feldenkrais principles, self-massage, breathing exercises, movement puzzles, and a compassionate mindset to help you feel a greater sense of ease and comfort in yourself. Increase your ease and efficiency in movement, improve your flexibility and coordination, and rediscover your natural capacity for graceful and organized movement through these classes.
Feldenkrais®
Awareness Through Movement® (ATM) lessons are a form of somatic education that combines gentle movement with directed attention to enhance movement function and develop an ability to listen to the body.
In an Awareness Through Movement (ATM) study context, we are “learning to learn”. Students become more sensitive and responsive to daily sensations of movement, and discover quality of life improvements that show up in unexpected places. The ATM principles and experiences from the lessons start to become part of regular life and functional movement becomes more effortless and ease filled.
Increase your efficiency while moving, improve your coordination, and rediscover your natural capacity for graceful, ease-filled movement through these verbally guided classes.
Yoga Nidra
… the perfect respite for your body and mind to reset the effects of anxiety
Yoga Nidra is basically a very long, guided savasana, that has been proven to have impactful health and wellbeing implications. Recent studies have shown that Yoga Nidra has lasting impacts on the cognitive and physiological symptoms of anxiety. It also helps to produce melatonin in your body, which can help manage immune function, blood pressure, cortisol, and induce restful sleep. All things that are essential and important for your overall well being.
Sarah Baumert is a certified yoga teacher, yoga therapist and Feldenkrais practitioner. She has a committed passion for helping people move beyond their pain and into a body and a life, that creates joy and pleasure. Sarah’s goal is to awaken sensation in people, contributing to humanities deeper embodiment and sense of connection with oneself and others. She loves helping people relearn basic movements and feel new sensations, helping them to gain the knowledge, skill, and awareness that is necessary to shift from a life of suffering and/or physical discomfort to one of meaning, joy, and an ease filled body.
Sarah’s sequences offer the chance to slow down and feel the results of an embodied practice that emphasizes alignment and safety in order to establish a base for a long life of practice. From an early age, Sarah’s training as a dancer introduced her to the mind-body connection and the power that comes from an awareness of a precise awareness of the body. She has experience working with bodies suffering from chronic pain, injury, illness, and other forms of dis-ease. Sarah works with a variety of populations including athletes, seniors, artists, dancers, children, and those recovering from illness or injury.
